This is Where the Creative Journey Started – Cultural Tours

On 22 June 2013, we started our creative journey.  Slightly later than we ever planned and certainly later than March 2012 which was our very ambitious initial start date. Our first cultural tour was in Melbourne CBD.  We wanted to connect the participants with free arts resources and art spaces that they can use during and long after the program has finished.  We always intended to create a legacy and a foundation for the future for the participants and this was our start of our journey….

Our Creative Mentors had been chosen, our Business Mentors had put their hands up and for most people it was their first meeting with the participants.  We also had an exciting last minute addition Bridget who we were all keen to meet. After collecting everyone from Dandenong we made our introductions.  We started in Federation Square.  Federation Square is the venue of our final public artwork and one of our key partners in the pilot program so this was the opportunity for Ephraim, Shakib, Hanna and Bridget to look at the place where their final pieces would be shown.  It was very exciting and made me realise the magnitude of what we were starting.

Next we went to Top Arts which was by far The highlight of the day for everyone  The works of the VCE students were amazing and really inspired everyone about what was possible.

Throughout the day we saw Art Play, link, Signal, link, ACMI and the immigration museum where we look at identity and what it means to be Australian.

Here are some of the highlights of the day.
