Adobe Soundbooth is a discontinued cross-platform software solution that provides a sound editing software tool for professionals. Adobe Soundbooth CS5 is no longer being developed and sold. As for the core features of Soundbooth, some of the most important are the multitrack support, fast audio cleanup, looping utilities, volume correction, MP3 compression preview and more.
Adobe Soundbooth CS5 is suited for the needs of both basic and advanced users. User will also be able to synchronize audio to your projects add various sound effects and ultimately achieve high-quality sound processes. In regard to the user interface, Adobe Soundbooth CS5 provides an intuitive and easy-to-use GUI that will help smoothen your daily workflow.
One other interesting feature included in the Soundbooth utility is speech search. You can use it to quickly search and find assets or clips within Soundbooth.
The Soundbooth audio editor also comes with a fast mastering and vocal improvement module for adding clarity and punch to voice dialogues using state-of-the-art mastering utilities. Moreover, the Resource Central offers thousands of various sound effects that allow you to create and customize interactive projects or existing audio scenes.
Amongst many other features, Adobe Soundbooth provides users with visual healing tools that enable you to visually remove and identify unwanted noises and sounds from your track.
SoundbBooth is a great example of this -- it tends to crash as often as not. Considering how much it costs, this is simply unacceptable. With each new version, Adobe's "Creative Suite" is fast becoming "Photoshop and some second-rate apps of dubious quality. Sam-Rowlands Oct 28 Its nice to see History applied to a sound editor and the non-destructive effects, and its so far very stable. I tried the free Audacity, trying to perform simple functions made it crash.
I find the interface somewhat confusing, especially the way how it allows for multiple sounds to be open at once. I would prefer each sound in its own window or to be able to see all the sounds at once.
I personally think that the interface controls buttons, sliders, tabs and such are hideous, reminds me of some bad haxie theme. All in all the only advantage of SoundBooth is the history, but its only a matter of time till the other choices add this ability. I was excited to hear that this was in the spirit of SoundEdit 16, but let down by the confusing, cumbersome interface and lack of "features".
Bedouin Oct 26 I know it's a beta, and I know more features will be added later -- but I'm just not seeing how this is any better than some of the alternatives already available, namely Audacity which is free and Sound Studio Pro. I'm still not sure what's so groundbreaking about this program that it couldn't be compiled for PPC as well.
Mintyboy Oct 26 I'm not an audiofile by any means It has potential. This program is kind of like the "aperture" of Adobe -- cool features, but limited scope. Intel only? Could this be one of the first apps released as Intel only that actually serves a universal purpose i. I wonder what made this impossible to create for PPC.
Jory Oct 26 A nice first-try effort. The UI is better than most 2-trk editors I've seen. I'm sure there will be more features added and it will be come useful at some point.
At the moment, it doesn't do a ton, but the app does exhibit some nice ideas. I especially like the editing paradigm of dragging tabs from the left or right to trim the file, the fades being dragged, and the method of adjusting gain on any selection. The spectral editing is pretty damn cool, too, and I hope more detail and ability is added to that. Keep going, Adobe!!! Maceddy Oct 26 Why o why Intel Only? Damn it Ferruccio-Busoni Oct 26 Quits unexpectedly on launch on my Show more.
